Puddly-Wuddly is a boy on a mission; he wants to be the world’s best baker.

He is a ten year old orphan who lives with his uncle Mortimer. Mortimer is a bachelor and owns lots of baker shops.

Puddly-Wuddly works in one of the shops before and after school. He is proud to be allowed to do so, but has one problem. Each time Mortimer gives him a task to do he mucks it up.

Yet Mortimer firmly believes that his only nephew would one day be the world’s best baker. Just before his sister died of a brain tumour he made a promise to her. He promised that Puddly-Wuddly would always live in a loving home.

Puddly-Wuddly missed his mother; she always told him he was a special person. He often wondered what his father was like. His mother never spoke of him nor did his uncle Mortimer.

One day, Puddly-Wuddly promised himself, he would find out all about his father. But for now he knew he must try to be a good apprentice baker. This was not an easy task for him.

He seemed to have an unlucky streak that followed him around. But deep down Puddly-Wuddly believed he was special, just like his mother had said. He knew this because sometimes he could see, hear and smell things that other people did not.
